Maj. Gen. B. L. Robinson,
Acting Chief of Engineers,
Department of the Army

DEAR GENERAL ROBINSON; This is in reply to your letter dated October 9, requesting our comments on your report on San Lorenzo Creek, Calif., by January 10, 1954.

We note that the proposed flood-control plan consists of stream channel improvements andlevees designed primarily to prevent losses to residential and industrial developments. We also note the willingness of local interests to bear a substantial part of the cost of protection from flood.

We have made no attempt to appraise the engineering features of your proposed plan but the report indicates that substantial protection will be afforded to major investments on the flood plain involved.

It seems certain that no features of the plan are in conflict with the interests of the Department of Agriculture.

Sincerely yours,

J. EARL COKE, Assistant Secretary.
